Why not take up a challenge for 2024? Raising money for charity can be a great motivation for you to push yourself to do something that will be good for your body and mind whilst raising valuable funds for an important cause. In our 30th anniversary year we are asking our supporters to take on a challenge using the number 30! The rest is up to you!
To get some inspiration we talked to Hana Gill, Development Manager about completing her 30 for 30 swim challenge for GYC last year.
Tell us about your challenge?
Back in July - I had the idea to swim 30k across 30 different swim locations as I was excited by the idea of finding different places to swim. I completed the challenge in early in October at the National Lido in Wales. All the locations were outdoors and included rivers, lidos, lakes and the sea! I found that doing it for charity and being sponsored really helped motivate me to get out there and swim regularly and have some exciting and often ‘bracing’ adventures on the way. I am looking forward to planning my next challenge! I really recommend doing something that pushes you a little bit out of your comfort zone or fits in with your fitness or wellbeing goals – you won’t regret it!
We also asked Toni Collier, Fundraising Manager about her big plans for enabling staff to take part in a fitness challenge at the office.
Tell us what is happening Toni?
From next week staff at GYC will have access to a treadmill, exercise bike or weighted hoop in the office so they can embark on their own 30 for 30 challenge! These will be in place until Easter so we are hoping the our staff team will be encouraging and inspiring each other to have some fun while getting fit before work, during lunch break or after work whilst raising money for GYC – watch this space for an update later in the year!
If you would like to take on your own 30 for 30 challenge please get in touch with toni@glosyoungcarers.org.uk. We would love to hear what you have planned!
