What an electric atmosphere it was at our Fire & Ice Walk at Brickhampton Golf Club last month! Walkers braved the elements and challenged themselves in aid of Gloucestershire Young Carers with staff, friends, family, supporters and young adult carers joining in with the excitement.
The walkers started off with their night with a ‘Ice’ walk which involved them walking on a bed of broken glass. This got the blood pumping before the main event which involved building a fire, letting the coals glow and then walking on the bed of embers!
One of those walkers was our very own Naomi who is our Finance and Fundraising Assistant and she told us: “I decided last minute to take part in the fire and Ice walk while setting up for the event. I am personally celebrating my 40th birthday year, how could I not support GYC during their 30th celebrations. I am so glad I did! It was such a great atmosphere. Not only did I raise funds for a great charity I overcome a personal challenge. I am now thinking about doing a wing walk next year. Anyone want to join me?"
Toni Collier our Fundraising Manager ‘we would like everyone who supported and collected sponsorship for this challenge. A special thank you goes out to Karen from Blaze Firewalking who as always goes above and beyond to ensure a safe but most importantly adrenaline pumping event! We would also like to acknowledge Brickhampton Golf Club for supporting us as a charity by providing this amazing venue’.
Look out for our exciting fundraising events in the new year, including the opportunity to wingwalk above the skies of Gloucestershire and more original 30 for 30 challenges!
