A huge thank you to Lechlade Lions for organising an incredible Charity Auction on 7th February at Hatherop Castle School. With the expert, and highly entertaining, auctioneering skills of Philip Allwood from Moore, Allen & Innocent, the event was a resounding success!
Generous donations from local businesses and residents fuelled an evening of intense bidding. The most sought-after lots included luxurious week-long holidays in Cornwall and the Lake District, while experience days, from wing-walking and glider-flying to Land Rover driving, drew fierce competition. Guests also bid for gourmet meals, fine wine, stunning artwork, and exclusive memorabilia.
Lions President, Alick Kitchin, opened the evening by welcoming attendees, expressing gratitude to Hatherop Castle School and Philip Allwood for their generous support, and emphasizing that every penny raised would go to those in need, especially the event’s main beneficiary, Gloucestershire Young Carers. Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Manager, Toni Collier, delivered a heartfelt speech about the work we do supporting young carers across the county.
Reflecting on the night’s success, Lead Lions organiser Christine Sheldon shared,
"A huge thank you to everyone who supported this event. It took a lot of hard work to bring it all together, but seeing people enjoy themselves while giving so generously makes it all worthwhile. Events like this truly make a difference in people’s lives."
In just two hours of bidding, the auction raised more than any previous Lions auction or fundraising event, a whopping £8,000!
