This September many of our supporters are putting their best foot forward to take on running events to raise money for GYC as their chosen charity partner. It is fantastic to see so many people taking part in these major events after such a long time due to Covid restrictions. We are so grateful to everyone for all the training, dedication and fundraising.

We send good luck wishes to Rob Buckley, a Director from local business Surelet as he takes on the 26.2 miles of the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 12^th September, Rob has raised nearly £700 so far! Rob said “Back in 2019 I ran the Tewkesbury Half Marathon to raise money for GYC, my intention then was to go the next step and run the full marathon, but then Covid-19 hit and I had to postpone my 2020 place. As a business we want to support local charities however we can, whether this be donating our time or making a financial contribution. We however found by taking part in an event and asking for donations we were able to raise more money for these charities and also increase awareness locally via our social media accounts.”

We also wish 5 runners from our charity partner Gloucester Athletic Football club the very best of luck as they take on the challenging Cheltenham Half on Sunday 5^th September. The team decided to set themselves this challenge in the wintery months of lockdown to keep themselves fit and have a fitness goal to aim for over the long weeks when they were unable to play football. Dean Rudge, Chairman at GAFC said “  When setting up Gloucester Athletic, although we wanted it to be a successful club on the pitch we also wanted it to be built on values of inclusiveness and giving back to the community. Once we heard about GYC and the fantastic work going on there we had no doubt that this was the charity we wanted to partner with and we hope the money raised from the Cheltenham half marathon and future fund raisers will help them to continue the great work.” The team have raised over £1000 for us.
