Each year, the Pupil Leadership Team at Cheltenham College nominate a charity to support, and this year, the charity chosen by pupils is Gloucestershire Young Carers. You can read the press release on their website.
The Prefects and Upper Sixth Form students have taken the lead in organizing creative and impactful ways to engage their community in support of the charity. With teamwork and determination, they’ve already hosted a series of successful events, including a lively fun run, a rugby match at the iconic Kingsholm Stadium, and a remarkable swimming challenge where participants swam the equivalent distance of the English Channel.
Reflecting on these incredible efforts, our Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Toni Collier, shared her appreciation,
“Cheltenham College organised a series of fundraising events, including swimming the English Channel distance and a spirited rugby match at Kingsholm. These efforts showcase how teamwork can make fundraising both enjoyable and effective. The enthusiasm and dedication of the students and teachers not only made the events successful but also highlighted the significant impact the funds raised to be vital in providing essential resources and services to over 1,000 young carers in the county, making a meaningful difference in their lives.”
These efforts are a testament to the generosity and commitment of the Cheltenham College community, proving that when a community comes together with purpose and heart, the possibilities are endless. From fun runs to extraordinary swimming feats, their fundraising journey has only just begun, and the future looks brighter for young carers across Gloucestershire.
