From 10th – 12th March, we visited schools and colleges across Gloucestershire as part of our Schools Roadshow for Young Carers Action Day, highlighting the importance of working together to identify and support young carers.
Over the three days, we engaged with students and staff from over twenty schools across the county. A huge thanks to Blakeney Primary, Bournside Secondary, Brockworth Primary, Chosen Hill, Cirencester College, Crypt Secondary, GlosCol Cheltenham, GlosCol Forest of Dean, Glos Col Gloucester, Hempsted Primary, Heron Primary, Kingsway Primary, Maidenhill Secondary, Minchinhampton Primary, Pates Grammar, Pillowell Primary, Ribston Hall, Rowanfield Primary, SGS Forest High, SGS Stroud, St Thomas More Primary, The Cotswold School, Yorkley and Parkend.
Clover Lake, our Education and Development Officer shared, “It was such a pleasure to be out and about visiting schools that we essentially partner with in delivering support to young carers, it is a real team effort and something we wanted to celebrate. To dedicate the whole week to go and meet and celebrate this very special group of students across the county and at the same time also be able to recognise the education staff that go out of their way to help these ones too was a privilege. For me, it was really heart-warming to see how many schools have set up dedicated support groups and to hear the impact that it has on students who feel they have a safe and nurturing space especially for them”
