On Tuesday, 3rd September, Emily, Naomi, Leon, and Jamie soared through the skies to support Gloucestershire Young Carers by taking part in our exhilarating Wing Walk. Now, it's your chance to feel the thrill while making a difference! We're pleased to announce that our Wing Walk will be returning on May 14th, 2025. Naomi, one of the brave four, spoke about her experience. She said, “It was strangely peaceful when flying. Windy, but I felt very safe. What I saw was very much like looking out of a plane window at all the fields trees and roads below. When we were coming down to land, I felt I could have had longer and wanted to explore further. Dare I say, I would have welcomed a few more twists and turns or even a loop! I was so proud of myself once we had landed, I was beaming. I would highly recommend adding this to a bucket list. It was so liberating to tackle and conquer the thoughts that your mind tells you to fear when I felt extremely safe and looked after. If you like theme parks, you would love your first wing walk!”
Our Fundraising Manager, Toni Collier also commented, “There’s something profoundly moving about watching the brave Wing Walkers take on their challenges at the world’s only Wing Walk Event here in the Cotswolds. Their unwavering determination and spirit are a testament to human resilience, much like the dedication and focus of young carers who selflessly support their loved ones every single day.
The Wing Walkers event is more than just an exhilarating adventure. Participants aren’t just seeking thrills and fun; they’re stepping up to raise vital funds that ensure young carers receive the support they need and deserve. These young carers balance school, personal lives, and caregiving responsibilities with a maturity beyond their years.
