We need you . . . Volunteer with us.

Our volunteers are very important to us, by donating your time, you will be helping to support the ‘young’ in young carer.

We are kindly supported every year by many wonderful volunteers who give their time to our charity.  The help they give is greatly appreciated, we really couldn’t do what we do without them – from helping at events and activity days, driving, admin, fundraising, mentoring, advising and lots more. As the need for our services grows across the county so does the demand on our small team, this is where volunteers are vital to our cause.

The time, energy and skills offered by our volunteers benefits our work and helps us to achieve our aims.  Experience has shown that volunteering also brings benefits to volunteers themselves and to those with whom they work.

To become a volunteer, all you need is enthusiasm, energy and a desire to help.  You can choose how much time you give, and we will give you all the support you need to achieve your role.

Whoever you are and however you choose to volunteer you’ll be part of a team making a big difference to these amazing children and young people.

“I would say “GO FOR IT!”- you won’t only be part of an amazing team, but you will make such a difference to young people’s lives – more than you will probably ever realise. I know that both the volunteers and staff helped me tremendously as a young carer. It’s a fun, heart-warming and unique experience.”  Amber

“It gives me a massive sense of satisfaction knowing that I’ve put my expertise to good use, ensuring the charity is best placed moving forwards financially. Spending the activity days with the carers really inspires me too, knowing that they have a lot more to deal with in life than I do but I’m helping them to just be themselves for those few hours.”  Matt

“If anyone is thinking of volunteering then I would recommend GYC because there are a number of ways you can help, and it is not a full-time commitment. Also, the team are very approachable and supportive. I have learnt a lot about Young Carers both through volunteering and being a trustee and am constantly amazed by their resilience and their outlook on life.” Pam
