Young Carers Action Day is the 15th March. This is the key date in the year when we shout loud and proud about young carers. The theme this year is ‘Make Time for Young Carers’ and the focus is on the difference ‘giving time’ can make in a young carers life.
Here is what GYC will be doing this year:
- We are going on a whole county Schools & Colleges Tour to celebrate how schools 'make time for young carers' and what a difference this makes. The GYC team will be out from March 13-15th visiting schools across Gloucestershire to meet the Young Carers School Lead, celebrate the work they do to support young carers, update their young carers displays and hopefully meet some of the young carers in school. If you are a school or college who would like to be part of our tour, please get in touch!
- Our charity mascot H, the bear that cares, will be visiting famous places in Gloucestershire in the lead up to 15 March to show GYC’S commitment to supporting young carers across the whole of the county from the Cotswolds to the Forest of Dean. We are hoping H’s fans will enjoy seeing all the places H has visited to spread awareness of young carers!
- Supporters from local businesses, schools, colleges and the community will be joining our ‘Wear to Care’ campaign on the day – choosing an item of clothing or costume beginning with a G, Y or C and by pledging their support to make time for young carers.
- Young carers from our forum will be sharing stories of how someone making time for them has made a crucial difference in their life.
You can join in by liking and sharing our #youngcarersactionday social media content on the day to help us spread our message far and wide.
