GYC Trustee Matt Cliffords' 500 miler running challenge for 2022.

With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors, dust off the trainers and enjoy running! Whether you are training for a big race, giving yourself a fitness goal or just want to feel good, running is a wonderful, free activity and can help you raise money for young carers too! Matt Clifford, who is one of our trustees has set himself quite the challenge this year to raise money for GYC and really give him running focus throughout the year.  He has committed to running 500 miles for us in a variety of races and has already started with a bang! We asked Matt a bit more about his motivation for taking on this challenge for us:

"I'm extremely excited to be facing this challenge for GYC. I've always tried to push myself both mentally and physically where possible and this will be really testing. I ran the Cheltenham half marathon in 2021 and remember vividly saying "never again", but I always look for more! I have some amazing scenery close to home and what better way to experience it than for the benefit of others? The sense of giving back always carries me through an extra few miles and encourages me to go further. I'll be looking for support throughout 2022, whether that be extra donations or running partners so if you're debating lacing up again, get in touch and join me for a mile or 2! If you see me out and about around Gloucestershire be sure to give me a cheer and visit the fundraising page to make every single mile worth it"
