GYC Twilight Conference is back for 2021!

Our Twilight conference is a very important part of GYC’s annual calendar. We co-produce this event with young carers enabling them to use their voice to inform and educate professionals. This is across education, health, commissioning, and social care focusing on best practice for identifying and supporting young carers in a range of settings.

We were unable to run the conference in 2020 and have taken the decision to deliver it as an online event this year.  The challenges of the last 18 months have meant we now have lots of experience in running engaging online sessions - so we hope that our online conference will have as much of an impact as previous face to face events.

This year the event will be themed ‘YOUNG CARERS – KNOW OUR RIGHTS’ and will take place 4-6pm on Thursday 25th November.  As usual there will be a range of workshops led by young carers that will have different focus ie. Sibling carers, young adult carers, supporting young carers in schools and working with young carers impacted by parental mental ill health.

Feedback from delegates of previous years has always focussed on the power of hearing directly from young carers about the issues that affect them.

“Thank you for the courage of the young people to share their experiences and advice for us”

“Hearing from the young carers was extremely powerful”

“I will return next year and invite the whole of my team”

Invites will be circulated shortly – if you want more information or to register your interest in attending the conference please email mail@glosyoungcarers.org.uk or call on 01452733060.
