Moore Allen and Innocent Support Young Carers

Staff at Cirencester firm Moore Allen and Innocent have donated £5,000 toGloucestershire Young Carers despite their fundraising activities being haltedby the Corona crisis.

Colleagues at the land and property agent and auctioneers were all set to embarkupon a 175 mile bike ride to coincide with the company’s 175thbirthday but Corona meant the end of the road for these plans. And it alsomeant a change to their hopes of raising in excess of £10,000 for their chosencharity Gloucestershire Young Carers.

Fundraising had got under way with a snazzy socks and specs day attended byyoung carer Jamie Taylor who shared his story with colleagues at the company.

The team also helped out with a fundraiser organised by GloucestershireYoung Carers at Colesbourne Park Snowdrops Event in February.

When things came to a shuddering halt and the community went into lockdown, colleagues at Moore, Allen and Innocent made the decision to hand over the£5,000 donation right now.

Associate partner Anthony Wright said: "We hope to be able to continueour fundraising for Gloucestershire Young Carers as it is such an amazing causebut we realised that during this difficult time charities need money now tohelp them to continue to provide vital support to some of the most vulnerableyoung people in our county. We decided to give them half the money we wereaiming to raise – and we had already made a good start on the fundraisinganyway so were able to do this. We can’t wait to get back to fundraising oncewe come through this crisis.”

There are an estimated 7,000 young carers in Gloucestershire, and thecharity supports 1,000 of them. The youngest is just eight years old. Duringthe Covid-19 crisis the team are making every effort to continue to keepconnected with young carers using alternative methods of communication such asvideo links and social media.

Ele Semadeni, Operations Lead at Gloucestershire Young Carers, said: “It isextremely helpful to us to receive funds now, in the middle of this crisis aswe are committed to keeping up the work we do in supporting young carers. Weare grateful to Moore Allen and Innocent for recognising there is a need rightnow to help the work of charities such as ours.”
