Our county-wide young carer respite groups return for Autumn/Winter 2022.

Now that Summer is a long and distant memory, we are ready for our respite groups for young carers ages 8-15 to resume for the new term. Groups are an important part of our service as they provide a chance for young carers to meet other young carers, make new friends, take some time out away from the pressures of home, get face to face support from GYC team, try new activities and focus on wellbeing or just have a quiet space to do homework and chill out.

We have resumed our junior groups in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Forest of Dean and Stroud and are also ready to welcome seniors to Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud which has now merged with our Cam/Dursley groups. Forest of Dean group is also up and running at Artspace. Cirencester and Tewkesbury groups although they are not reopening this term will be piloting a new activity scheme in the new year.

“Young carers is a great experience for me because it helps me focus on me. I feel relaxed and comfortable to be myself. I also met a few new people and usually I don’t really like to see new faces but at the end of the day, they are now my friends. I would recommend going to young carers because you can be yourself and you get to relax, meet new people and get new friends.” – Kenzie
