Pumpkins were gratefully received from Gloucester Quays Rotary Club. They kindly donated 25 in all shapes and sizes, which were turned into spooky lanterns, tasty soup and even a flower vase!
Stroud Juniors respite group dressed up for their Halloween Party and had great fun thinking up design ideas and then working on their pumpkins in pairs and making lots of mess! The simple pumpkin brought a lot of excitement, laughter, and squeals of delight. As the young carers carved them up while up to their elbows in orange flesh and slippery pumpkin seeds, it was great watching their creativity go wild, their teamwork and careful use of the carving tools - some even made different faces on the front and back!
Members of the young carers 'Our Voice' forum who joined us on the Monday of half term were delighted to have a pumpkin to take home and couldn’t believe their size and weight! Our newsletter group who met on 31st Oct also got in on the pumpkin action Laura Ritchings, our Youth Work Development Worker relates how
'Even on the day, with costumes already picked out, the young carers were excited to carve new creations to light up their gardens and doorsteps. Most had ideas of scary faces but one said they were going to carve a character scene! The creativity from the activities of the day was obviously still flowing!'
Gloucester Quays Rotary club made all this Halloween fun possible - thank you so much!
