Can you tell us about your role at GYC?
I’ve just started a new role at Gloucestershire Young Carers as a Development Worker for Social Prescribing and Substance Misuse. Social Prescribing is when you look at a person’s individual non-medical needs and support them to fill gaps or address issues that would then assist in making their life more enriched, productive and hopefully happier!
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forwards to being part of something that will hopefully make people’s lives a bit easier to manage.
What brought you to a role at GYC?
I’ve always worked with people, for the last 18 years that has been pastorally in secondary school education. Coming to Gloucestershire Young Carers is an additional element of supporting people. There’s nothing better than when you’re part of a process and you can see the motivation, pride and achievement develop in someone!
And lastly tell us a bit about yourself? What do you enjoy doing in your free time.
I love working with people, I love laughing, I love being outside and being active – anything adventurous and I want to be the first to have a go!
I have 2 children, a girl, and a boy, they are crazy little beans but amazing!!!
